The International Speech and Language Therapy / Pathology Primary Progressive Aphasia Network
(International SLT/P PPA network)
The International Speech and Language Therapy / Pathology Primary Progressive Aphasia Network formed in 2020 following a discussion on social media between several of the founding members. We identified a common desire amongst several international clinical-academic speech and language therapists, to influence clinical practice. We wanted to make sure that therapists were not just recycling everything they did with people with stroke aphasia, but that they understood the needs of the people with primary progressive aphasia and their families. We saw an opportunity to come together to have a stronger voice.
Encourage communication and connections between international speech and language researchers in the field of PPA
Keep each other informed of current developments underway in our respective countries
Offer peer support for isolated clinical-academic SLT/Ps working in the field of PPA
Support, educate and inform speech and language therapists on how to deliver appropriate services to people with PPA and their families
Develop collaborations and enhance the research in this field
Improve care for people with PPA and their families
